We can live well without narrating it
Rarely explain yourself. Your friends don’t need it and your detractors won’t respect it.
🎊 Hey, it’s Friday! If that’s pay day for you, consider checking out my daily practice app. It provides quiet account ability and keeps you on the straight and narrow.
A lot of energy gets burned on explaining ourselves.
Why we chose this vs. why we didn’t choose that instead. Why our pace looks the way it does. Why our priorities aren’t obvious to everyone else.
Stoicism is refreshingly uninterested in that performance.
If our choices are guided by reason and good character, they don’t need constant footnotes. We’re allowed to move quietly. We’re allowed to opt out of debates about our own lives.
Explanations often aren’t about clarity anyway. They’re about approval.
And approval is an unstable fuel.
Live well. Let that be enough. Because it is.
Stay hungry. Stay wise. Eat brekkie.
