Timelines are made up

Do not hurry; do not rest.

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

A lot of quiet stress comes from the feeling that you’re behind.

Behind where you “should” be.

Behind people your age.

Behind some imaginary version of yourself who made all the right moves, and made them earlier.

Bah humbug to that!

Stoicism has no use for that nonsense.

There is only where you are, and what’s in front of you now. Everything else is comparison noise. Poison, really.

Progress isn’t measured against other people’s timelines. It’s measured against your own capacity to act well, today.

You’re not late. You’re here. You’re progressing.

Chill.

Stay hungry. Stay wise. Eat brekkie.
